GrooVR is an personal project that was born from the fusion of two passions: immersive technology and music. Developed as a virtual reality drum simulator , GrooVR allows anyone to experience the sensation of playing a full drum kit with total freedom of movement, without needing a physical instrument.

Challenges faced :

  • Create a realistic and responsive experience, with minimal latency between movement and sound.
  • Faithfully reproduce the spatial position of each drum part, ensuring ergonomic comfort and natural gestures.
  • Make the project compatible with multiple VR devices, prioritizing lightness and performance.

Technology used :

  • Developed in Unity , with support for VR systems (Meta Quest, SteamVR, etc.).
  • Customized physics system for mapping “drum hits” based on the intensity and direction of movements.
  • 3D audio integration for realistic and immersive sound response.

Strategy used :

  • I created a drum layout inspired by real acoustic kits, with the option for user customization.
  • We prioritize immersion and creative freedom , allowing the user to simply put on the headset and start playing without any complex menus.
  • GrooVR also serves as the foundation for future extensions such as rhythm challenges, recording and sharing of performances.

Solution delivered :

  • An immersive and fun virtual reality application that transforms any space into a rehearsal room.
  • GrooVR showcases the power of immersive technology applied to music, offering a new form of expression for drummers — and for those who have always wanted to play but never had access to an instrument.
